Igor Pariy Data engineer and DWH analyst. I build data pipelines that run without failures.

Seven years of working with data, from academic research to industrial analytics in steel manufacturing. I design ETL, automate data loads, and turn raw data streams into reports that people can rely on when making decisions.

An engineer who turns scattered data into a working system

I’ve been working with data for seven years: first in academic research at Tomsk Polytechnic University (atomic force microscopy, X-ray diffraction, papers indexed in Scopus), then in industrial analytics at NLMK Group, one of the largest steel producers. Today I design planning systems, ETL processes, and integrations between Python services, SharePoint, and Power BI.

I use LLMs as a development tool: I own the architecture, data model, and task breakdown, and hand routine work and boilerplate to AI. It speeds up delivery while the key decisions stay with me.

  1. — present

    Senior Engineer

    NLMK Group, steel manufacturing

    • Designed and launched a system that automates laboratory work planning, built on Python, PostgreSQL, and SharePoint.
    • Integrated Python services with the SharePoint REST API: requests, work stages, staff, equipment, statuses, and constraints.
    • Built scheduling logic that accounts for staff and equipment availability, stage dependencies, and partially completed work.
    • Set up data delivery to Power BI for workload and plan vs. actual analytics; monitor system health on a regular basis.
  2. —

    Engineer

    NLMK Group, Lipetsk

    • Developed algorithms and software in MATLAB and Python to process and visualize data from analytical instruments: spectrometers, diffractometers, and electron microscopes.
    • Operated Rigaku SmartLab SE and Haoyuan DX-2700BH X-ray diffractometers.
  3. —

    Research Engineer

    Tomsk Polytechnic University

    • Studied the piezoelectric response and surface potential of materials using an NT-MDT Ntegra Prima AFM and a Shimadzu XRD-7000 diffractometer.
    • Pre-processed, cleaned, and prepared data for analysis.
    • Prepared result presentations and co-authored papers for Q1–Q2 journals (Scopus, Web of Science).

Key projects

The main systems and problems I’ve worked on in recent years at NLMK and the university.

Laboratory work planning system

Designed the architecture and data model from scratch to automate lab planning. Python services read requests from SharePoint, build a schedule that accounts for staff, equipment, and dependencies, write the plan back, and feed the data to Power BI.

Python, PostgreSQL, SharePoint REST API, Power BI

ETL and scheduled loads

Designed and maintain several ETL processes: scheduled jobs on OKD CronJobs, GitLab CI/CD, and automated reports on demand and on a schedule.

ETL, GitLab CI/CD, OKD CronJob

Plan vs. actual analytics in Power BI

Lab workload dashboards that compare planned and completed work and surface bottlenecks by staff and equipment.

Power BI, Power Query

Data processing for analytical instruments

Algorithms and interfaces in MATLAB and Python for spectrometers, diffractometers (Rigaku SmartLab SE, Haoyuan DX-2700BH), and electron microscopes.

MATLAB, Python

Research papers in Q1–Q2 journals

Co-authored several papers in Scopus and Web of Science journals on the piezoelectric response and surface potential of materials. Full cycle: experiment, pre-processing, analysis, and manuscript preparation.

AFM, XRD, Scopus
